Church Annual Meeting 2016

Dear Church of the Redeemer Family and Friends:

A new year is often a time of renewal and re-commitment. This past year we celebrated many things proclaiming the Word and the blessing of God for the future while beginning the 55th year of ministry.

In addition, at the end of December we celebrated the Advent Season through music, drama, children, and the Word. Many people participated through our various outreach programs as we were able to bless many children from our community and local school in keeping with our theme of, “Redeeming the Community through Service and Love.”

Furthermore we completed another missions-focused ministry year supporting and hosting those in the global field. At the same time, we continued to support local mission work with our community based events, prison visits, homeless feedings, Sunday School in the Park evangelism, child evangelism, Mecado Support Ministry, and others. Please consider joining others who will pledge to give a monthly offering of $20 or $10 toward our missionary and evangelism efforts.

Finally, on Sunday January 31st at 1:00pm we will be holding our Annual Business meeting. You are invited to participate in hearing additional information of the church and the various ministries that seek to draw and develop people in the love of Jesus. In addition, the membership will be electing four Church Board members to serve a two year term. Your participation is important in the continued development of the ministry.

We begin a new partnership with Kenmore Elementary of Baldwin Park Unified School District, Redeeming Time, with an after school tutoring program sponsored by a generous grant. There are also projects such as our playground, pre-school, and others that continue to be in consideration and pursuing development.

Please contact the church office for additional information. May the Lord Bless you and keep you. May He cause His face to shine upon you and give you peace.

A Church to the Community

Redeeming the Community through Service and Love.

That is our Vision.  We are a church to the community.  When you attend our services or our events you see this, or at least we hope you do.  This is the core of what Church of the Redeemer stands for.  I personally have attended this church for over 12 years and this is one of the things that I am most proud of.  The culture at Redeemer is to put others first.  You can see this just by the kind of events and activities we provide.  Every Thursday morning we are a Food bank to the community.  We provided food for low income families that might have not been able to provide for their families any other way.  Through out the year we also have various events geared directly at our community.  From our up coming Harvest Festival, to our Back to School Back Pack event.  As we look at the events we are providing we always see how it brings value to our members and our community.

Every church that you attend will be different.  Each church is unique in its own way.  We are not a “mega church” and we know that.  We are a church that knows that our community is broken and needs to be fixed.  And we want to do something about it.  The church has learned that it exists by focusing not on themselves but by focusing on others.  In the movie Braveheart, the brave William Wallace (played by Mel Gibson) told a group of cowardly Scottish nobles “You think the people of this country exist to provide you with this position.  I think you position exists to provide those people freedom.”  In this same way, the church exist to provide freedom in Christ to our community.

We know the church has a purpose and we know that we are called to be a church to the community.

“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.” Luke 9:24 (NIV)
